Every month, museum visitors choose the exhibit they liked the most. What they singled out for October was the Calvatia gigantea or giant mushroom, commonly known as the giant puffball. Calvatia gigantea is an unusual, large-sized edible mushroom, with a diameter of 10-50 cm and a height of 10-25 cm, that grows from May to October in small groups, at an altimeter of over 1000m. It is consumed when it is white in color with a velvety and smooth surface, while when it is ripe it has a yellow-green color and gradually disappears. Calvatia gigantea has therapeutic suggestions, as the mass of spores from mature mushrooms has hemostatic and anti-inflammatory properties.
