The exhibit of the month for April 2024

Every month, museum visitors choose the exhibit they like the most. What they singled out for April was a mushroom, the Stropharia aeruginosa.
Stropharia is a non-edible mushroom, possibly toxic, with a characteristic blue-green cap color, white flesh, and scales that turn yellowish when mature. Its lamellae are initially pinkish and then take on a lilac and violet-brownish tinge when mature. The cap is hemispherical and 2,5-5 cm in diameter, and the foot measures 4 to 7 cm in diameter. It fruits in summer and autumn in clusters on decaying wood or leaves.
