Every month, museum visitors choose the exhibit they like the most. What prevailed in September is the crowned crane!

It is probably the most impressive species of crane, which lives in Africa and nests mainly in the wettest habitats. But we can also find it in open plains, swamps, and savannahs.

Its height in some cases exceeds one meter, the wingspan reaches two meters, while its weight is about three and a half kilos.

It is one of the most beautiful birds in the world, with bright colors and an imposing presence. Male and female cranes are almost the same.

White color on the wings, dark wings on the back, while what characterizes them is their amazing head, which has a symmetrical "crown", with thin golden feathers, that is always upright. After all, it owes its name to this.

Crowned cranes appear to have a mate throughout their lives, with males and females sharing family burdens, from hatching eggs to feeding the chicks.

Dancing is an integral part of courtship. First, they jump in the air and then they land with open wings around their partner.

It is an omnivorous bird, while it is considered endangered due to the limitation of the living areas, but also due to the extensive use of insecticides.
