The exhibit of the month for November 2024
Every month, museum visitors choose the exhibit they liked the most. What they singled out for November was the Black Swan.
The Black Swan (Cygnus atratus), one of the most remarkable waterbirds, is found mainly in the southeast and southwest regions of Australia. In the 19th century, it was introduced into several countries, where it developed populations. It has black plumage and a distinctive bright red beak. It is also distinguished by its long neck, which, compared to its size, is the longest of all swans. It is a monogamous species and is found in pairs, mainly in rivers and lakes. It is a protected species in Australia and a regional symbol of Western Australia and of the English town of Dawlish.
