Spatial Augment Reality is applied for the first time in a Greek Museum

The Natural History Museum of Meteora and Mushroom Museum has created a new part, related to the nutritional and therapeutic value of mushrooms. For the creation of this part, a new technology, Spatial Augmented Reality, has used.

It is the first time that this innovative technology is used in a permanent exhibition of a museum in Greece, while there are few reports about its use in museums worldwide. Where it is applicable, the projections are on 2D, while in the Mushroom Museum they are on 3D sculpture mushrooms.

The main advantage of this technology is that there is no mobile device between the visitor and the exhibit. Instead, the projections are directly on the space and on exhibits, so many visitors can watch it at the same time.

The top 12 medicinal and top 12 edible mushrooms are presented. Also, their impact on the human body's organs is highlighted, such as their content of vitamins and minerals.

Ms. Olga Gortzi, Professor of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics of the University of Thessaly was in charge of the Museum's new part.

Mr. Giorgos Konstantinidis, President of the Greek Mushroom Society and author of many books about mushrooms, was the curator.

The implementation and technical processing were undertaken by Mr. Thodoris Randos, CEO of Interactive Light Designs.

Finally, local painters and sculptors contributed to the final result.
